[Um… Host, are you alright?] The system felt a bit guilty, but that did not diminish its desire to capture the host’s dark past with embarrassing photos.
“What do you think?” Lin Ya ground his teeth, slightly speechless, as he closed his eyes.
In conjunction with the flaws of the system, he was referring to problems such as being kidnapped, robbed, and stolen from—just these ‘minor issues’.
A ‘minor flaw’… hard to evaluate.
Not wanting to reread the manual of this damned system, with its text as small as an ant, Lin Ya sighed; this was truly a trap…
If someone else had obtained this damned luxury system and lacked the ability to protect themselves, it would be over for them.
[Wealth can sway hearts. The system’s obtained wealth has a chance to trigger: robbery, murder for profit, theft, etc., within three days. I hope the host trains diligently to protect themselves.]
And the key point is that even if he hired bodyguards, they might just be the ones intending to harm him for money.
Truly a pitfall, a real trap…
“Unsurprisingly, the person who wants to kidnap me is probably that lawyer. He’s the only one who knows about the inheritance I received.”
After a long drive, the car soon came to a halt, and Lin Ya was carried by two people into an abandoned building before being unceremoniously tossed onto the ground, causing him to frown and mentally take note.
He would let these two have it later; he always repaid enemies on the spot.
“Boss, they’re here.” Upon hearing the car stop downstairs, the man guarding the stairwell peeked out and, upon seeing a familiar face, quickly turned back to speak.
“Once we complete this job and get out of the country, our lives will be carefree.” The flat-nosed guy chuckled while fiddling with a pocket knife and stood up to approach Lin Ya, intending to kick him awake.
Meanwhile, the lawyer had also come upstairs. Seeing the scar-faced man and the unconscious Lin Ya, he was instantly elated and pulled out several documents from the briefcase he was carrying.
“In accordance with what we previously agreed upon, we’ll split these assets this way: you can keep the other cash and jewelry, and I’ll take the two buildings.” The lawyer felt thrilled at the thought of the two buildings in the city center’s value.
He felt less reluctant about the tens of millions that would be shared or the billions worth of gold and jewels. Although greed momentarily sparked a murderous thought, he quickly dismissed it, realizing these were desperate criminals he couldn’t overpower.
But the lawyer had not considered that even though he abandoned the idea of killing witnesses, those desperate criminals were adamant about keeping the money.
They had secretly contacted buyers for the buildings; one building at 50 million, and killing one more person could yield an extra 100 million. What a lucrative deal!
So as the lawyer reached the upper floor, the three swiftly pinned him down; now that they had the hostage, they no longer needed him as a middleman.
Lin Ya was kicked and pretended to remain unconscious, peeking through barely open eyes to watch as the flat-nosed guy and the others restrained the lawyer. Not only did they reveal their knives, but with the lawyer begging for mercy, one of them quickly stabbed him in the neck.
Once the lawyer lay lifeless on the ground, the three kicked away the still-warm body, the scar-faced man scoffing with disdain, “What a joke, we brothers take everything. Why share anything with you? Do you even deserve it?”
“Boss is right! Still wanting those two big buildings, not realizing we’ve already made contact. If each building sells for 50 million, just think about how much our cut will be! We wouldn’t be able to spend it all, hahaha!” The flat-nosed guy felt his face flush with excitement at the thought of the good life awaiting them abroad.
The mute guy echoed the sentiment; the group was ready to celebrate.
The scar-faced man smirked, flicking the blood off his knife, and raised his chin: “Go, wake that kid up, get him to sign, and once that’s done, kill him. This place is remote, no one usually comes here. By the time they discover the bodies, we’ll be long gone.”
The flat-nosed guy quickly approached, raised his leg, and prepared to kick hard. However, as he swung, pain shot through his calf, and he couldn’t help but scream, “Ahhh!!”
Lin Ya opened his eyes, grabbed the man’s leg, and twisted it hard, causing the man to collapse to the floor, holding his leg in defeat.
Meanwhile, the other two rushed over with knives.
Lin Ya stood up, pulled out his phone, and pressed the emergency button. The expressions of the two attackers drastically changed; gripping their knives tighter, they exchanged fierce glances before charging at him.
“Hello? I need to report a kidnapping! They’ve killed someone! Help! Hurry! I don’t know the address; this is an abandoned building…” As Lin Ya pretended to be out of breath and evade their attacks, he managed to inflict pain on them until he caught a glimpse outside the building.
“There’s a tall chimney outside; smoke is coming out…”
Hearing the person on the other end of the call urging him not to hang up, Lin Ya intentionally bumped into the scar-faced guy’s arm. As expected, he reached out, knocking the phone from Lin Ya’s hands and kicking it down the stairs.
The phone shattered as it fell from the fifth floor.
Lin Ya no longer held back; with fierce punches, both attackers ended up bruised, some with broken ribs or arms.
As the sirens wailed, the police charged in, spotting Lin Ya sitting calmly in a corner, unharmed, with the three kidnappers moaning pitifully nearby, and the lawyer laid out in a peaceful position, making it hard to tell who the real criminals were.
“…So you fought them all?”
In the interrogation room, Lin Ya held a cup of water, his fair and handsome face still coated in dust, his white shirt streaked with gray, clearly showing signs of having rolled on the floor.
“Yeah, officer, I was drugged, but I woke up later and found they wanted to attack me. So, I called the police while evading them, but they smashed my phone in the process. I got angry…”
“And then you really fought back.” Lin Ya wore an innocent expression that left the officer speechless.
But since he was the victim, he completed the record and was free to go. They would notify him once the three kidnappers confessed.
